Ready to Progress lessons

The DfE Ready to Progress criteria summarise the most important knowledge and understanding within each year group.

The RTP section of the main Effective Maths site has been updated, with links for each RTP criterion to the specific lesson, or sequence of lessons, that supports it. While some criteria are covered by a single key lesson, others are supported by multiple lessons.

You can view some lessons here.

2AS–4

Add and subtract any 2 two-digit numbers

4NPV–1

Know that 10 hundreds are equivalent to 1 thousand, and that 1,000 is 10 times the size of 100

6AS/MD-1

Understand that 2 numbers can be related additively or multiplicatively, and quantify additive and multiplicative relationships

Ready to Progress quizzes

You can also find numerous quizzes to support assessment here.

The online nature of the quizzes means that re-taking the test is easy. Students are generally much more motivated by online tests/quizzes than paper-based ones.

It is not recommended that students are tested without any teaching input.
